Does outsourcing mean lost jobs for local economies?
Many in America are vehemently opposed to outsourcing. They say that outsourcing leads to lost jobs, and that we should think about poor Joe who lost his job and how he feels. We should feel for anyone who loses their job. But, if poor Joe, lost his job to another American, would anyone care? National chauvenism is the enemy to outsourcing. Humans are in deed humans, and national borders should not define who we care about, or under what circumstances. Its the same logic of counting how many Americans died in June in Iraq while we conveniently omit to mention how many Iraqi's died in combat, not to mention how many militants from other neighrboring countries died fighting our forces. Sure, the militants are our enemies, and probably have an ideology that we find unhealthy, but we need to think of them as humans first, and that is where the problem lies. In America is a faux-pas to say anything that differentiates races, but its considered okay to make negative comments about certain religions that are different, or jobs flowing to other countries where the people look, act, and dress differently.

The world is moving in the direction of globalization day by day, and a global culture continues to evolve. Every country of the world has more and more diversity, and global interaction expands and expands as we speak. There is no turning back the clocks, and no way around this. The spiritualists have been talking about this phenonimon for a long time. Many gurus have spoken of the disintegration of borders and the breaking of caste, race, and national boundaries. This is happening progessively as we speak. These boundaries don't disappear in a day, but look at how life is in the United States today compared to thirty years ago. We are much more international, and we are very racially integrated while we were not before. Many youngsters in India in 2010 can quote lyrics to Ludacris that many Americans don't know. Borders are just non-existant in many ways.

Is this removal of borders good or bad?
For the most part, a borderless world is more interesting, because you have more variety of work and recreational options, cuisine, and entertainment. On the other hand, bad cultural tendencies can infiltrate your community very quickly and corrupt your children. For outsourcing, this is good, and outsourcing is growing exponentially in India to the point, where managers can not find enough qualified workers. It looks like the price of outsourcing is going to go up soon!

What is the end result of outsourcing?
America gained its affluence in the 50's due to Europeans outsourcing manufacturing to the United States, since their industries had been destroyed in the war. So, how can we of all people be against outsourcing when it made out country. In the 70's, Japanese auto-makers sold countless cars to Americans. The die-hard patriots were against buying foreign cars. But, the irony is that in 2010, the very companies that we imported our cars from, which cost us American jobs, are now aggressively building manufacturing plants on American soil, while our locally grown auto-makers are moving their operations to Mexico because they have been strangled by their union contracts that were made with those who say, "Buy American". Those who were the most staunch "Buy American" proponents in unions have lost most of their jobs, while Toyota is employing tens of thousands of Americans to work at their various plants. Outsourcing karmic realities are that what goes outside the country, comes back to you.

Now we are outsourcing jobs to India, and the "Buy American only" folks are against it. What they fail to realize, is that what money the Indians make from us comes back to us. Not only are they saving end users in America tons of money, and providing better services, but they are also buying American products. Have you ever been to a corner store in India. Everything they sell is made in America. Head and Shoulders, Tide, Bounty, Fanta, and the list goes on. All of the dollars that go to India come back. And for every Joe who loses his job, Harry will get a new job manufacturing detergent.

My main concern is for the short term welfare of those who lost their jobs by outsourcing. Outsourcing is a force that can not be stopped. Those companies that don't do it, could be put out of business by price competitiveness in many cases. But, the workers on our end need protection too. There should be a program where displaced workers can get a job in the country that got their job, so they can support their families. Sure, they might not like that idea, but at least they should be given the option.
